Residential NYC Prewar Apartment Makeover on the Upper East Side – All but the Bath
This Prewar one-bedroom apartment was a diamond in the rough! Located in a classic Residential NYC building, the kitchen was a typical galley—less than 7 feet wide by 10 feet long—with only 30 inches of space between the range and the opposite counter. Fortunately, the apartment received abundant natural light through a large window at the end of the entry.
Our construction team transformed this compact space into a bright, functional gem. The custom kitchen renovation features modern appliances, mirror backsplashes for enhanced light and depth, and a more open layout. We removed as much of the kitchen wall as possible, fully optimizing the available space.
As part of this thoughtful restoration project, we installed new doors, moldings, and trim; upgraded the electrical system to 100 amps; refinished the floors with a custom dark walnut stain; and added a wall-to-wall cover in the living room to accommodate a PTAC unit under the window. A full skim coat and fresh paint tied the entire space together.
